PHILOSOPHY
I pride myself on being an inquisitive, life-long learner, and strive to offer my passion and knowledge for treating mental health conditions based on evidence, respect, and choice. I believe healing and well-being should be accessible for all persons. As such, I employ a humanistic approach to patient care that is holistic yet individualized to a person’s unique needs and circumstances. I incorporate evidence-based treatment modalities including psychiatric medication management, integrative options, and psychotherapeutic interventions. I treat a wide array of mental health diagnoses, from mood disorders, to anxiety and trauma disorders, substance use concerns, and ADHD. In response to the extensive gaps I observed in access to quality health care for women, I completed a fellowship program and continue to engage in training in the subspecialty of reproductive psychiatry. This has prepared me to treat women across their reproductive lifespan, incorporating the impacts of hormones on mental wellbeing during stages such as pregnancy or perimenopause. I enjoy providing education on the risks/benefits of psychiatric medications based on data and practice guidelines for both mom and baby during the perinatal, postpartum, and lactation periods; and conversely, the risks/benefits of withholding or discontinuing treatment during this time. Women deserve the opportunity to make informed decisions about what wellbeing means for oneself and for one’s unique family. I look forward to collaborating with you on your journey of wellbeing – something we all deserve to achieve in our own meaningful way.
BIO
Born in Wisconsin, as one of three daughters to a feisty special education teacher, values like advocacy, service work, and health equity were an integral part of life from a young age. In my adult life, those passions remain at the forefront in my own family. I believe in finding a healthy balance of work and play in all things wellbeing, so I prioritize time with my family doing so! I enjoy the many wonders Oregon has to offer, from ocean walks with my dog, to hikes in the forest, to a Blazers game with my son. Exploring Portland’s many coffee spots is one of my favorite activities, as is indulging in the city’s delightfully diverse food and music scene. I look forward to sharing and learning about your local gems in our future sessions together.
